Goodbye, 22

For my twenty-third birthday, I wasn't planning anything extravagant. I was feeling under the weather due to my allergies and even wanted to spend the whole day playing the video game Mark gave me as a present. Doing that was enough for me. However, my friends surprised me by visiting hours before my birthday. They gave me four M&Ms, a cake, and an apple-green balloon. They sang me the birthday song at exactly 12:00 a.m. of the twelfth of December. I was really, really happy. I kept smiling, and I thank God for blessing me with such friends. Later that day, I initiated the original plan of spending the whole day playing (I had been looking for this game since forever, and Mark ended my search). I finished Heavy Rain in less than twenty-four hours (a usual bad habit), and Mark scolded me for it. Mom bought me a beautiful fondant cake, and it was so pretty. I didn't expect Mom to even buy me one. That day was stupendous, and I wished it lasted a little longer. Thanks to all who greeted me on my birthday and for making it unforgettable. God bless you all. xoxo

Angel

The past few weeks have been extremely depressing and draining. Mark and I lost someone very, very dear to us. We were there when he was diagnosed with his illness and were there when his illness cut his life short. There were tears shed, and sometimes, I would wish that everything that has happened until now was just a dream—that one day, when I would open my eyes, he'd be there, smiling.

New Horizons
New job, new glasses, new surroundings, new friends, new experiences, new everything! Whew! Time for a breather! I wasn't expecting them to come all at once! Don't get me wrong, but I'm hyped! I had the first-day work jitters and I wasn't so sure what to do. I was introduced to everyone in a conference room so it was such an impromptu. The typical " Hello everyone. I'm Maureen." made me feel like a little girl on her first day of school. Except in this case, I don't get a "Hi Maureen" in slow motion, but a mature and fast "Welcome" instead.

Dress With Chic
I love dressing up as much as possible. There is no end to it. Fashion is art. As a kid, my mom raised me as those " comfortable" types. You know, growing up with shirts, shorts, sandals, and so on. Should I be dressed, depends on the occasion. But hey, I definitely am not complaining. I love my style. It's unique and we each have our own.

Bon Odori (Day 2)
There was nothing different on Day 2 except that it was jam-packed with people! It was double the excitement, double the fun! We saw a countless number of familiar faces and the like. It was an event you would never forget. Some women ( Filipinos and Japanese alike) wore yukatas and men would wear hakamas. There were stalls here and there. It took the word "festival" to a whole new fun level.

Bon Odori (Day 1)
Initially planned, my friends and I wanted to spend our Friday ( August 7, 2015) lazing off and thinking what to have for dinner in my house. Apparently, due to some unexpected circumstance, we decided to check Bon Odori Day 1 out. Bon Odori, meaning simply " Bon dance" is an event held during Bon Festival, the Japanese Buddhist holiday to honor the departed spirits of one's ancestors. It was held in D' Family Park in Talamban, Cebu and its purpose was to deepen the friendship between Japan and Philippines through cultural exchange. The entrance fee was only PHP10 for the two-day festivities ( August 7 & 8).

Zeon The Guinea Pig
Zeon, my guinea pig, is taking over my Instagram account ( or maybe even worse, he's slowly taking over the world). Yikes! This sinister cavy of mine has planned every move of world abomination ever since. Zeon is a pure Peruvian guinea pig who likes cucumber and chayote. The way he popcorns is beyond adorable. He's like a walking wig or floor mop. My friends, at first, mistook him as a Shih Tzu puppy. There will never come a day that he wouldn't be able to make me smile. The way he chortles and purrs is heaven to my ears. Beyond his big physique lies a big coward. He loves hiding, short naps and munchies. And the way he holds you for comfort and assurance... Oh, don't let me get started on that.

Love Me or Hate Me
I honestly didn't know what to give this post as a title. We opt for a geisha-themed shoot but we were short of props and not to mention, no kimono in sight. The shoot was done at my house's living room. I was surprised to see my living room turned into a beautiful studio, well, all thanks to my co-photographer's studio light. It was my first studio/house (watchamacallit) shoot, and well, it had me thinking to have one of my own. Maybe someday.

Aura
This is a late post. To be more exact, a month late. I wasn't busy or anything like that but just didn't have the time to edit the photos and blog about it. I don't know why but it must be the heat or the rain or both. Haha. Enough about my senseless reasoning. I had fun taking photos of Aura, a woman who was both physically and emotionally beautiful. She was confident, to say the least and oh-so-adventurous. She can climb mountains fast and cross bamboo bridges without breaking a sweat. Her silly jokes crack you up and the way she handles everything, it's admirable. Although we had been together for like a day and a night, it was enough to know what she's like, towards her family, her friends and her loved ones.
